Bài nghe:Good morning and welcome to Colfax. I’m Debbie Davis. In today’s podcast, we’re going to talkabout how women around the world won their right to vote. You heard me, right? Women in mostcountries didn’t use to be allowed to vote up until the nineteenth or twentieth century. Many couldnot even own property. The lawmakers thought that women should just stay at home and take careof their families. They did not let women have any opinions on how the country should be run.Because they thought that women were not smart enough to make those decisions. Unbelievable,right? But some women were determined to fight for that right. The organized events and asked tochange the laws so that women can vote in elections and even become politicians. Thanks to thosepassionate activists, most countries now allow women over 18 years old to vote and own property.As a woman, I will forever be grateful to those who fought hard to make sure women have thesame rights as men.
