Câu tường thuật câu hỏi Yes/ No: S + asked + O + if/ whether + S + V (lùi thì)
Lùi thì: hiện tại đơn => quá khứ đơn
Thì quá khứ đơn: S + V_ed/ tra cột 2
Đổi: “you” => “I”
“Do you like to go to Con Dao by ship?” she asked.
(“Bạn có thích đi Côn Đảo bằng tàu không?” cô ấy hỏi.)
She asked me if/ whether I liked to go to Con Dao by ship.
(Cô ấy hỏi tôi xem tôi có thích đi Côn Đảo bằng tàu không.)

Lùi thì: hiện tại tiếp diễn => quá khứ tiếp diễn
Thì quá khứ tiếp diễn: S + was/ were + V_ing
Đổi: “you” => “I”, “next week” => “the following week”
“Are you participating in Clean-up Day next week?” my mum asked.
(“Con có tham gia Ngày dọn dẹp vào tuần tới không?” mẹ tôi hỏi.)

Đổi: “I” => “she”, “can” => “could”

(“Tôi có thể chụp ảnh bên trong chùa được không?” Laura hỏi người hướng dẫn.)
Laura asked the guide if/ whether she could take a photo inside the pagoda.
(Laura hỏi người hướng dẫn liệu cô ấy có thể chụp ảnh bên trong chùa không.)

They asked me if/ whether I would take those measures to improve the situation.
(Họ hỏi tôi liệu tôi có thực hiện những biện pháp đó để cải thiện tình hình không.)
